In Martin Kehoe’s last two posts he wrote about Leandra’s Law in New York State (NYS) and Melanie’s Law in Massachusetts. As stated before, NYS is one of the first states to introduce first-time-offender, mandatory interlocks. The estimate is that there will be almost 25,000 interlocks ordered in NYS during the next year. Compare that to the estimated 3,000 interlocks, the previous annual high.
Rumor has it that Massachusetts is now looking toward making their state a mandatory first-time-offender state! That could mean 13,000 or more ignition interlocks would be issued in the first year of that program.
