Major holidays and events like New Year’s, Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day inevitably lead to an uptick in the number of arrests for driving while intoxicated and other traffic violations. Last weekend’s Super Bowl was no exception. The Troy Record reports that 21 local drivers were arrested during a Super Bowl DWI sweep between February 3 and February 6. Albany County Sheriff, Craig Apple’s office said that the average blood alcohol content of the drivers who were arrested was .15, almost twice the legal limit. Unfortunately, there was one alcohol related crash in the Town of Westerlo that lead to injuries.
